Corporate Social Responsibility
We care about people and the environment, and we make a concerted effort to give back to society and our local community.
Environmental Responsibility
We make every effort to reduce harmful practices by decreasing pollution, use of single-use plastics and general waste. Our general waste is recycled where possible, so less is sent to landfill. Our energy supplier is Britain's biggest generator of zero carbon electricity, and our two-year plan includes installing solar panels, so we can generate our own power, providing renewable electricity to meet some or all our energy needs.
Our work often takes us to client sites where we combine trips whenever possible to reduce total flight time, we car-share and only use domestic flights where necessary using public transport otherwise. Our support of Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment (TOE) means that we plan to offset all the carbon we have used since our founding in 1996 by supporting a wet land regeneration project that is high in carbon absorption. We aim to be company carbon neutral by 2030 in line with the highest of international targets.
Helping to conserve nature on our doorstep
Wetlands sequester carbon through high rates of organic matter inputs and a reduced rate of decomposition. Often taken for granted in the past, an increase in research into ponds and wetland habitats in recent years has revealed that ponds are biodiversity hotspots in the landscape and important in storing atmospheric carbon. Since 2022, and in partnership with the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment, Vision has been funding a programme of practical land management work devised to offset our carbon emissions by creating peat and enhancing the wetland habitats on Nettlebed Common.
Ethical Responsibility
We are committed to practicing ethical behaviour through fair treatment of all our stakeholders. We are one of the 15,000 businesses in the UK who voluntarily pay the real Living Wage, and our policies reflect our promise to prevent slavery and human trafficking in our business activities and supply chains.
Philanthropic Responsibility
Our belief is we all have a role in making the world and society a better place. We always favour buying goods and services locally to benefit the community socially and economically.
As a team we support several charities and good causes in the UK and overseas, including The Nasio Trust, a charity that empowers communities in western Kenya to break the cycle of poverty by providing education, healthcare, and opportunities for income-generation and The Fountain, a community hub in our local town. We also actively raise funds for charities through sporting events and we volunteer our time.
Economic Responsibility
We pride ourselves on making financial decisions that are backed by our commitment to do good. Many of our clients are in the charity or not for profit sector and we have the pleasure in making a positive impact on the environment, people, and society via job creation. Clients in this sector include Trees for Life, RSPB, National Trust, Métis Crossing and Welsh Water.
